poker champion
Amazingly, I won the first Texas Hold Em tourney I've ever played. Our work game had 9 players and I took the top prize. Ah, beginner's luck. Now I'll definitely be back for more (and to lose what I've won). :)

poker fun
Tonight, I venture into the world of low-stakes poker here at work. Looks like we've got about 6 people signed up for a Texas Hold-Em No Limit game. Yee haw.
Work has been going well. Had an exciting trip to the California office (the "Googleplex") followed by a very chill weekend. Allison was busy during the weekend with schoolwork. Sunday night she managed to get free and we went to see Finding Neverland. Big thumbs up -- I liked it a lot more than I expected. Johnny Depp is so good.
Already diving into code at work. I don't waste any time :)

Closer
Saw Closer last night. I didn't like it, AC did. Natalie Portman is good,
but I just couldn't relate to the pathetic characters... or I should
say caricatures. I felt it was too disjointed to really give you a
chance to learn or care about the characters. AC disagreed, but
maybe she was "reading between the lines" better than I did. It
reminded me somewhat of My Friends and Neighbors, except when it comes
to the sex stuff, it's all talk. Here's my breakdown: if you like
hearing Hollywood stars talk dirty (and I do mean dirty), or if you
enjoy watching people being shallow, petty, jealous, and mean to each
other for 2 hours, go see it. Otherwise, wait for the DVD.

I understand that IBM doesn't sell many desktops, but I can't believe they want to dump the whole PC business!

laptop is named
Thanks for the votes and suggestions. I was really tempted by wolframhart, and reaver was a great idea, but in the end I went with serenity. Found a great fan-created serenity wallpaper that really "pops" as the laptop background.
